Betty Makoni the founder of The Girl Child Network Worldwide and a 2009 CNN hero visited the Ceinode Girls Club in Abokobi in the Ga East Municipality of Ghana. The visit was to afford her the opportunity to familiarize herself with the activities of the club which is linked to the network of clubs worldwide and to interact with the girls.

Ceinode Ghana in collaboration with the Abokobi community and other stakeholders organized a durbar in honour of Betty Makoni. At a colourful Mini durbar the girls demonstrated high esteem and confidence levels through poetry recitals, drama, cultural performances and a sketch highlighting the plight of the girl child and the importance empowering the girl child.
Various speakers who joined the girls to welcome their hero, including a representative of the Ga East Municipal Chief Executive emphasized the need to educate the girl child for effective development in communities and the nation.
